Topic: Growing Peppers presented by Good Taste Farm
Location: The Homebrewer SD
Date: June 29, 2016
Time: 7pm – 9pm
Meeting number 1 is in the books for San DiFUEGO, and what a blast it was. We had 25 attendees for our very first meeting, many of which brought some home made and commercial examples of hot sauces. There was even a fiery Sauerkraut with Habanero peppers grown by our friends at Good Taste Farm (compliments of Michael Levy) which turned anyone who tasted it into a quick sweating sissy.
Here is a look at our tasting table, packed with fresh hot sauces, salsas, bbq sauce, mustard, pickled peppers, and fermented goodies all night long!
Then, those who brought their hot sauces were given an opportunity to share their recipes and lessons learned from experimentation with others in the group.
All of this was followed up by a great presentation by Kris and Sarah from Good Taste Farm on how to grow peppers at home. You can download the handouts and presentation slides here.
They even brought some of their small batch grown peppers for attendees to try and buy!
Overall, this felt like a very successful launch for club San DiFUEGO and our members. Everyone who attended the first meeting received a free membership card which will give them an opportunity to save with a number of local shops and nurseries in the area.
Stay tuned for updates on future meetings and we certainly look forward to hearing from you and further exploring the spices of the world and your kitchens!
